Overview

The purpose of academic program review is to guide the development of academic programs on a continuous basis. It is a process that evaluates the status, effectiveness, and progress of academic programs and helps identify the future direction, needs, and priorities of those programs. It provides faculty the opportunity to collaborate, assess, evaluate, and improve program quality.  Program Review aligns with the assessment of student learning and is due December 1st each year.

  • Occupational Outlook for CTE programs
  • Program Cost Summary (Provided during ICCB Review year)
August-November
  • Analyze data provided.
  • Analyze course assessment data.  
  • Complete ICCB 5-Year Program Review Report or the Waubonsee Annual Update. 
  • Complete a Learning Improvement Report from the previous year's plan.
  • Create a Learning Improvement Plan for the current year.
December
  • Submit completed Learning Improvement Plans, Reports and Program Review or Annual Update in AEFIS.
  •  Due December 1st.
January-May
  • Implement curricular improvements and goals articulated in reports submitted Dec. 1st.
  • Continue with data collection according to 5-year Assessment Schedule. Schedule can be revised as needed.  

ICCB Program Review Reports

Waubonsee Community College participates in an annual update/program review process which is designed to be a collaborative process to support the mission of the College and to provide opportunities for divisions and programs to assess, share and improve its impact. The review is an opportunity to evaluate programs. The process supports quality in each area.

Program Classification System (PCS) Codes

PCS codes are used to identify the type and intent of curricula and courses. This information is used for State, Federal and local tracking purposes.  

The first digit of the PCS code refers to the major programs or a postsecondary institution.  The second number in the code is used to specify subprograms.

The Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP) provides a taxonomic scheme that supports the accurate tracking and reporting of fields of study and program completions activity.  It was developed by the U.S. Department of Education's National Center for Education Statistics (NCES).
