A Learning Management System (LMS) is a software application that manages/organizes learning resources, delivers content, facilitates collaborations and learning activities, administers assessments, and tracks/reports learner performance. As its name indicates, the primary goal for using such software is to enhance student learning. When designing programs or courses in the LMS, instructors should have instructional design models in mind.

Waubonsee Community College utilizes Instructure's Canvas as its exclusive LMS platform. Before registration takes place, for each course to be offered, a course shell with a standardized template is created automatically.
